November 13, 2025 Luncheon
Big SIR Hersh Brown led the last general meeting of the year and his last meeting as Big SIR. We have met our membership goal; we inducted two new members and transferred two more from BR 94 bringing us to 101 total members. We have three guests today; They have submitted membership applications so we will have a great start in 2026.
We enjoyed an early Thanksgiving dinner of Turkey with all the trimmings and enjoyed an interesting presentation by Jon Haveman on the National Debt.
Finally, the BEC agreed to extend the Christmas Lunch ticket sale. So contact Pierre Garabedian with your meal choice and save $10 on each ticket.
Economist Jon Haveman has accepted our invitation to be our speaker at our Nov 13 SIRS meeting on the timely topic of our national debt.

Marcel Hikers
Dear Hiking Sirs,
The next hike on November 21, to Mt. Umunhum, should be a favorite to most of us. It’s visible to most of the county’s of Santa Clara and looks rather impressive. It’s not the tallest but the most picturesque.
Is it a hard hike? Not really, in my opinion. The trail was well designed so it is not straight up. Of course, because of that , it is longer (7.4 miles) but easier. We start at 10 AM from the second parking lot of Mt. Umunhum Road. Almost at the top, we have the choice of stopping for a rest there and continuing to top for the last mile, or turn around back. We have done both ways.
I will send a reminder early next week. Meanwhile, let me know if you plan on joining us.
Marcel Tomassian (408)206-0532

P.S. I have attached a hiking schedule for 2025. Be aware that we can be flexible due to weather reports, requests from you, or conflicts with other events.
