The Garden Club was started by SIR members in the mid-1930’s and includes members from branch 10, 32, 54, 74 and 141.  We gather, talk, enjoy each other’s progress and eat lunch.  Wives, friends, and girlfriends are  all welcome.  All meetings are on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.  The club meets at Denny’s 1140 Hillsdale Ave.(under Almaden Expressway), San Jose in the back room at 11:00 AM.  We order lunch at 11:30 and eat at 12:00.  We have guest speakers sometimes and finish about 2 PM.

The September 11 meeting was the first for this year as we returned from summer. Our speaker was Nora Baker, a  Certified Arbonist of Our City Forest, who explained things to look for when needing to replace or just plant trees in San Jose.  

Our October meeting will be on the 9th, again at Denny’s, 1140 Hillsdale Avenue, San Jose, CA. (Cross street under Almaden Expressway.)  Our speaker is Aparna Bugwadia, subject Water Wise Gardening.  The meeting “gathers” from 11:00AM.  We order our lunches and eat from 12:00 to 12:30.  Speaker gets the floor until 1:00 or ?  plant raffle and go home.  Women are encouraged to come.
