April 10, 2025 Luncheon
Saving SIR
When he worked at HP, Andy Danver, SIR Director of Marketing and Communications, had an impressive budget and staff. Now retired and a member of one of the largest remaining SIR Branches, he has identified a huge potential for SIR in Santa Clara County. The problem is how to achieve that potential with a minimum budget and staff. Click Andy’s image to view presentation.
Rich Lordan and members of SIR#94 will join us for Andy’s presentation coming up on April 10th at 3 Flames, San Jose. We will dine on: Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes.
Big SIR’s Hersh Brown and Rich Lordan lead a joint luncheon with Br 54 & Br94. We had a productive discussion about merging the two branches, we met a lot of new friends and enjoyed a lunch of Meat Loaf, potatoes and vegetables. We welcomed a new member Steve Lundgaard and lost Joe Noia.
Andy Danvers, SIR State Director Marketing and Communication, gave an informative presentation on the history of SIR, the membership trends and opportunities for membership improvement along with some of the tools and processes for success.

2025 Day Trips
Guglielmo Winery May 29
The next Day Trip is the Guglielmo Winery at 1480 E. Main St., Morgan Hill
The tasting fee is $15 per person. If we have 10 people, they’ll probably will do our tasting inside the actual winery tasting room. If we have 15 plus, they will probably set it up as a private tasting.
One of the Guglielmo’s will be there, either George or Jean and depending on how the bottling process is going in the warehouse, they may be able to walk us through it. However, it is their 100 year anniversary and they might not be able to accommodate us in that regard. But we won’t be able to know that until the first week in May.
Briana will be there and she will walk us through the history and give us information about the winery. It should be a really good time. It is a very old family winery in Morgan Hill,

Marcel Hikers
Dear Sir Hikers,
The Los Alamitos Trail hike starting at the Lake Almaden on Winfield Blvd is an easy one that can be called a walk. From the lake you can go south or west. My plan was to go south and walk about 4 miles round trip. A small issue occurred — for the first time in at least five years I caught a cold. Last night, I was sneezing and coughing. I did not sleep too well. But I know I don’t have a flu, so if I sleep well tonight and if my cold has improved, I will be there at 10:00 AM. We will meet near the restroom inside the park. Park on the street otherwise you will have to pay a fee. If you don’t see me, have a good walk.
If you have any question, call me at (408)206-0532
Marcel
Meanwhile, let’s talk about our next event which is on April 25. We are doing the Los Alamitos trail starting at the Almaden Lake right, off Winfield Blvd, about 4 miles roundtrip. It is an easy and rather pleasant trail. Also well known and used – parking is somewhat a problem but if we start at 10:00 AM again, some the hikers will be leaving.
I will send a reminder early next week.
Sir Marcel Tomassian

P.S. I have attached a hiking schedule for 2025. Be aware that we can be flexible due to weather reports, requests from you, or conflicts with other events.

Snapp Walkers
Hello mild hikers and neighborhood walkers. Monday mornings we walk. The walk typically covers 2-3 miles of mild up and down streets.
During the summer we start at 8 AM at SIR Charles (Heck) Hecker’s place on Crisp Ave. just two and a half blocks east of Fruitvale Ave. near West Valley College.
If you’re interested let me know and plan on arriving between 7:45 and 7:55. We try to leave promptly at 8.
