This museum has 35-40 Aircraft on display ranging in years from 1869-2017.  The cost is $14.00 per ticket for seniors.  Please note, they do not have food on site but there are restaurants nearby where we can get a quick bite of food.

Marcel Hikers

Dear Hikers,

First, let’s talk about the March 23 hike/walk.  Because of the weather predictions, we did not know whether it was going to be a hike or a walk.  Only two members showed up — Sirs Ron Gaumont and Larry Snapp.  The weather was not great, with predictions of rain from drizzles to showers.  We made the decision to go towards Vasona Dam; the Los Gatos trail would be okay no matter what.  Going towards Lexington was sure to be a muddy mess. It turned out to be a good choice and we were not the only crazy ones on the trail.  We walked almost four miles and I admit I was dragging a little bit.

Our next event, on April 11, will be the hike towards Mt. Umunhum.  We have done that one at least twice before and although it sounds like a “killer”, the many switchbacks makes it more accessible, and of course longer.  My records says it is 7.4 miles.  Don’t let that scare you.  We can decide how far we want to go when we get together the day before, which is our regular monthly meeting day.  The starting time will remain at 10:00 AM. See you at the meeting.  Call me at (408)206-0532 if you have any questions or suggestions.

Marcel Tomassian

P.S.  I have attached a hiking schedule for 2025.  Be aware that we can be flexible due to weather reports, requests from you, or conflicts with other events.

For more information about our Hiking Club along with pictures and information about previous hikes click Let’s Hike.

Hello mild hikers and neighborhood walkers.  Monday mornings we walk. The walk typically covers 2-3 miles of mild up and down streets.

During the summer we start at 8 AM at SIR Charles (Heck) Hecker’s place on Crisp Ave. just two and a half blocks east of Fruitvale Ave. near West Valley College.

If you’re interested let me know and plan on arriving between 7:45 and 7:55.  We try to leave promptly at 8.

Petanque with Archie

Folks,

Please meet: Jeanne Louise Calment (French: [ʒan lwiz kalmɑ̃] ; 21 February 1875 – 4 August 1997) was a French supercentenarian and, with a documented lifespan of 122 years and 164 days, the oldest person ever whose age has been verified.[1] Her longevity attracted media attention and medical studies of her health and lifestyle. She is the only person in history who has been verified to have reached the age of 120.

According to census records, Calment outlived both her daughter and her grandson.[2] In January 1988, she was widely reported to be the oldest living person, and in 1995, at age 120, was declared the oldest verified person to have ever lived.[3]

She Jeanne had many hobbies such as fencing, cycling, tennis, swimming, rollerskating, playing the piano, and making music with friends.[5]: 4–21

If you want to live a long and happy life, come and play Petanque with us today and every time outdoors in a beautiful Saratoga park (twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday).

Please come to play early.

See you soon.

Cheers 😃,

Archie
